Insa’s low carbon impact mural in Leeds

Insa on his new mural in Leeds: “…for this mural it was time my pattern grew up, removed its heels and breathed! I wanted the work to be embracing itself, nurturing its own future as the paint on the wall does its job breathing in the CO2 around it….”

The work was completed in conjunction with Moniker Art Fair and Yorkshire Design Group Leeds. It’s located at Wharf Chambers in Leeds city centre. As well as being a stunning piece it’s a test case to a new more environmentally friendly way to paint as Moniker explain:

“We have documented all our emissions from production to lifestyle, lived with minimal waste, ate no meat and recycled and reused whatever we could. We have even composted our food waste, donated our left over paint and will off set our unavoidable emissions. Not only have we reduced our footprint, but we also used non toxic biosphere paint that will actively absorb carbon each year from the air. I have to say it’s been a successful experience to make street art more sustainable and environmentally friendly. The reality is, We can’t continue to pollute the planet in the name of art, and sorry to say but spray paint and urban art festivals don’t tend to be the most planet friendly. It’s time to change and the good news is, it’s possible”!!
