Cleopatras Needle

Cleopatra’s Needle, London

Cleopatra’s Needle is the genuine article having been made for Pharaoh Thotmes III in 1460 BC. It was shipped over by the Victorians in a specially constructed vessel and at one point was nearly lost at sea in the Bay of Biscay off France. It marks the British victory over Napoleon and is flanked by two Victorian made bronze sphinxes.
