Untitled. II The Beautiful Renaissance (Pro_Actif Communications)

The 25th anniversary edition of Subway Art recently demonstrated the power of large scale format books for graffiti pictures and Untitled 2 whilst not being quite that volumes dimensions still stands well above your average volume (and not just in its size). It’s a trip around some of the most notable recent street art events taking in Dolk and Pobel’s work on the abandoned buildings of Norway’s Lofoten and Banksy’s New Orleans work along the way. The photos have a uniform high quality typically either coming from the artists themselves or from a ‘best in class’ from Flickr.

Like the first volume what really sets this book apart is the thoughtful and randomly witty observations accompanying the pictures. Where explanations are needed they are provided in detail but sometimes all that is needed is a short sharp thought provoking barb.
