Mortarhate Stencil

Mortarhate Records logo stencil, Feltham, West London

Crisp lines on this Mortarhate records stencil. Mortarhate is the label set up by Conflict to release anarchist leaning bands such as Icons Of Filth. Stencils have always been a part of this scene and were often used by bands such as the godfathers of anarcho punk Crass. Their early eighties campaign of spraying their logo on tube stations around London was apparently one of the reasons for calling one of their albums “Stations Of The Crass”.All photographs copyright artofthestate 2004
