Christmas is coming
Well, while I’m still trying to work out what I think about the Gallows / Lethal Bizzle cover of the Ruts ‘Staring At The Rude Boys’ I thought I’d mention this event as it sounds like it’s going to very, very good.
Over 40 ‘urban’ artists are taking over the old Bridewell Police Station in Bristol this Christmas and filling it up with stencils, sculpture, prints, fine art, graffiti and just general mayhem. If you’re thinking this is some kind of Assault on Precinct 13 style attack on the police station that’s not quite right because the building is disused but it should be a great venue. The irony of the fact that the location is where many graffiti writers have been taken over the years is not lost on the organisers who include art-el.co.uk, beforechrome and steal from work. After a year of endless emails about new galleries being opened both online and in white walled spaces it’s so refreshing to see something coming together that seems to be more like street art used to be, a bunch of artists getting together to have some fun.

And yeah, I do love that Gallows track ‘cos it just presses all the right buttons, pushes things forwards and takes nothing away from the original.
